The metabolites used in the model of RSV bronchiolitis versus healthy control children also predict length of hospitalization. Using the same metabolites, we created a new PLS-DA-based model (R2 = 0.83, Q2 = 0.81) comparing the same healthy children in relation to the duration of hospitalization for RSV infection. Illustrated are the PLS-DA prediction scores for each infant stratified based on length of hospitalization. Error bars represent the means and 95 % confidence intervals
