When the probability of becoming HBsAg positive for an HBsAg positive person's spouse after receiving prevention methods (P4) changed from the highest to lowest, the cost per HBV chronic infection averted decreased from 2,010,600 Rials (242 $) to 1,507,950 Rials (182 $) in strategy 1 from 1,959,840 Rials (236 $) to 1,469,880 Rials (177 $) in strategy 2. It shows that higher efficacy of the preventive intervention results in lower costs-effectiveness ratios.
