Patients who died during the first 7-days after admission were excluded from the analyses of 8 to 30-day mortality. Models were adjusted for sex, age-group, and Charlson Comorbidity Index (0, 1–2, > 2). Hazard ratio’s for laboratory measure were each adjusted individually for sex, age-group and CCI.
